2020 Points North Seminar - Join us!

Hi all,

We still have a few spots left for our 2020 Points North Seminar. if you're a current or soon-to-be Ranger Tug or Cutwater Boat owner, we'd love to have you join us.

The seminar will be taught by Sam Landsman from showboat.com and will cover several topics including: popular Gulf Island and Desolation Sound cruising spots, clearing customs, anchoring, tides, currents, outfitting, stern tying, safety, Dodd Narrows, and much more.

The marina may have a few slips left if you'd like to bring your boat and stay overnight. Call them to make reservations at ​206-824-5700

Space is limited, please sign up asap. The seminar is a pre-requisite for anyone joining us on the Desolation Sound Cruise (participation in prior cruises also count towards the pre-requisite).

In light of the Coronavirus outbreak, has Ranger Tugs given any consideration to canceling the Points North Seminar on March 21st. Need to know before we commit to attending. Thanks.

Hi all,

As you know, we have a series of events that we host each year for Ranger Tug & Cutwater Boat owners. Each Spring we look forward to kicking off a fun and exciting event season with our Points North Seminar. This year is no different, we can’t wait to get on the water, but we are making some important changes to this year’s seminar.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided not to meet in person for this year’s Points North Seminar. Instead, we will host a live webinar which you can participate in from the comfort of your home. We’re certainly going to miss seeing everyone in person, but we’re thankful and excited for this opportunity to expand the reach of the seminar. Sam Landsman does a great job of getting us excited to cruise and delivering the information we need to prepare for our upcoming adventures!

The tentative plan is for the webinar to go live at 8:30am on Saturday, March 21st, 2020. Sam will officially begin the seminar at 9:00am which gives us a little bit of time to make sure everyone is able to get logged on successfully.

We’re working on the details of the webinar now and should have a final schedule and further details available in the coming days. If you'd like to join the webinar but were not signed up for the in-person event, please register HERE.

Here are the answers to some common questions.

- Joining the webinar will count towards the prerequisite for the Desolation Sound cruise. We will have a log of everyone in “attendance”.

- You will need a computer or tablet to participate in the webinar.

- As an attendee you will not be on camera or microphone, but you will be able to ask questions via text chat which will appear on the side of your screen.

- We will most likely use Zoom.us for the presentation.

- Sam Landsman will be the main video presenter, but the plan is to have the factory team available to communicate via video during the presentation as well.

Thanks to Ranger Tugs for making this tough decision to have the Points North Seminar as a webinar.
This seems like a suitably cautious approach to a virus that we still are learning about.
We will hopefully have several times this Summer to get together physically as the Ranger Tugs family.

We just registered for the webinar. Thanks to Ranger Tugs and Cutwater for being flexible during times of uncertainty. This will be our third Points North. It is always nice to meet new people at these seminars, but as others have said there will be time this summer.

We just finished another internal test of the new webinar platform. It works great and we're excited to talk cruising with everyone next Saturday!

Everyone who is registered will receive an email next Tuesday or Wednesday with instructions for downloading the Zoom software and joining the webinar.
