I saw in the 2019 Rendezvous newsletter that Ranger is coming out with a new R-25. Looks a lot like the R-23. Apparently they had one on display at Roche Harbor. It is not on their website yet.

Any details, pics (inside and out), etc., available? I was thinking that they should come out with a O/B version of the 25, but they have the 23 and the 27, so maybe they would not. We have been considering getting an R-23, but I may have to revise my plans.

It has a full head and hanging locker in the berth, pretty much same galley arrangement, molded step rather than fold down for the cockpit seat and an electric grill. The swim step is much larger and would allow for better handling of pots etc and a Stern tie. That is what I remember from a walkthrough.

I have to give credit to RT for always pushing the boat design envelop with their focus of manufacturing boat models that are so appealing and great value. In addition their dedication to Customer Service.

R21 -> R21EC -> R25 (Classic) -> R25SC -> R27 (Classic) -> R29 (Classic) -> R29 S -> R29 CB -> R31 S -> R31 CB -> R23 -> R27/OB -> R41 -> R25/OB -> what next ?

Did I miss any models ?

We do have a new R-25. We're building the webpage as we speak. Hope to have it up today.

It's at the Lake Union Boats Afloat show today through Sunday if you're in the Pac Northwest and want to go see it in person.

Personally, I see that the pricing for R25/OB fitted with most options that the R27/OB NW Edition has as stock comes to around $30K less than the R27/OB NW Edition which has larger fuel tank and larger other tanks and more room inside as well. This R25/OB pricing is similar to what I came across when comparing the pricing of the R23 with the options I required and comparing its price to the R27/OB NW Edition's price (although from 2018 to now the R27/OB's price has crept up some).... and consequently went for the R27/OB NW Edition.

Of course, the advantage of the R25/OB's NW Edition's pricing is that the extra options can be ignored and you get a much better price than that of the R27/OB NW Edition where you have no choice on most options.

I suppose RT will be dropping the R23 in favor of the R25/OB. :? :?: :?:

Remember that EVERY boat is a compromise! This is R23Max

I liked the 'hip' room for sleeping in the cave compared to the R25SC.
I liked the the finished fiberglass overhead in the cabin.
I liked the enclosed head (though I still prefer to have the head well away from the V-berth).
I'm assuming that, at anchor, the electric grill means inverter and therefore motor running? Prefer the BBQ.

Just for info., what is the orientation for sleeping in this V-berth? I'm assuming it's the same as the R23?

Not going to switch.

Chimo:

I suspect the electric grill WILL require shore power to be connected. That was the case on my previous R27/OB. That grill takes a fair amount of energy. The grill is a marvelous stock item but having a BBQ quite likely is needed for the anchoring activity. RT has improved the models over time with more and more modern styling and the clean looking fibre glass adornments such as the cabin's interior ceiling for sure.

V-berths are just that. They require people to crawl in as best they can. Now, if the aft-most cushion were to be removed the first person getting onto and into the V-berth is made a lot easier. The second person in would have to replace that cushion.

Of course the head location is a personal thing, and for me having had the R27/OB and now the 2019 R29 CB I simply love having the head nearby the fwd stateroom.... but then I'm solo for most of the time for over nights so there are no unwanted disturbances during the night time except for when my Jake decides to leap off the bed to deal with the odd noises that one gets floating on water and with the nighttime creatures that swim about.

I like your term "R23Max" and hope there's no correlation with the Boeing 737 Max. 😉

P.S. Your R-25 SC is aging by the day.... 😉

Looking at the specs of the new 25...it says loa 28 feet....loa of the 23 is 28.5 feet....holds more h2o, fuel etc...I wonder if spec shet is wrong ? I have the 23 and love it......wife would love enclosed head...just looking and wondering...

My guess is that the O/B is recessed into the swim platform on the new RT25 O/B thus reducing the LOA compared to the RT23. The real livability measurement would be hull length not LOA.
In the Classic series, the hull on the RT 25 was 24’ 7” while the RT 27 was a bit longer than 27’. So the RT27 hull was about 2’7” longer than the RT25.
