I stored my boat last winter with the fuel tank full and the guage reading full. The only work I did on the boat was replacing the engine battery. I realized after using the boat this season that the guage was still reading full. I installed a new sending unit and nothing changed. Any suggestions?

You'll find a few threads on here about inaccurate readings on the fuel tank. If I recall, the R29 has a long, short fuel tank so if the boat is stern heavy or is bow up while running, the fuel sloshes aft and reads higher than it should. There are threads here on Tugnuts on how to recalibrate the fuel gauge, but I haven't found time to test out if recalibrating makes a difference.

Instead, I trust in the Garmin. Fill up the tank completely, go to the Fuel dashboard on your chartplotter and set it to full. I find that if I'm diligent about updating whenever I add fuel, it gives me a pretty accurate reading.
