Propane Tank

I am not getting the electric grill on the port stern of my R25. I was thinking about converting the space underneath into a propane locker, similar to how the R27 is configured. This would be designed properly to have venting, regulator/pressure gauge, solenoid control valve etc. Considering this is the location for the R27, is this a reasonable place to store the tank?

A friend of mine started using the small Coleman propane cylinders for his cooktop. One cylinder would last him for six hours of cooking. Yes, they are a bit more expensive, but perhaps a much easier install. I originally had the propane locker etc. and then just started using the Coleman cylinders after my tank became outdated.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve been using those for years camping and actually planned on using the same stove just on the boat. The bummer about the small cans is that they can’t safely be refilled and cost more. Was think of using the Coleman stove on the back where the electric grill would have gone but with a full size tank I’ll start with the small cans and keep those securely stored in that same locker for a start until I can figure out if it’s worth the trouble of modifying.

Hey Pauly,

Did you do this mod? I'm thinking about doing the same thing on a new R25, wondering if you ran into any issues. Thanks.
