Can someone explain how the AC works for heating. I set the temp to 82 at the dock on shore power and never felt warm air coming out of the vents.

Check to make sure you have water flowing through the system. It should be coming out of the diverter port on the starboard side. You may have to prime the pump. The first time I used mine i had to get the boat on plane with the heat running, when I backed off the throttle the pump primed itself and the heat pump worked great.

I have water flowing through the system. It does seem to go off and on when the system is on. Does the engine need to be running for heat on an R27?

The engine doesnt need to be running unless you are needing more charge to the house battery bank? Might ask the factory on that one. I don't know enough to troubleshoot that unit.

I had trouble switching modes from heat to AC and found I had to hold the heat cool button longer than I thought. Maybe 5 seconds. The unit then showed either a sun or a snow flake. Maybe it's the mode it's in.

Thanks! I never saw the sun. I will try that tomorrow.

That worked. Thanks!

Thanks for this thread. We are having our R-27 delivered in early May and this thread alone will save me about 2 days of pulling my hair out.

Keep in mind that heating is a secondary mode for the webasto units. Not sure about the Belair.
That means the compressor will cycle on and off more than you'd expect. Hot air then just air then hot air, etc. Until the thermostat is satisfied. In AC mode it will just run till satisfied. Also check on where the temp sensor is located. If it is still coiled up in a ball of wire at the controller box you'll have trouble controlling temps
