Does anyone have a preferred route from the South Sound? It is a 2 day trawl for us. We're trying to figure a route that splits the trip into two legs. Obviously, we've never done this before. Any and all tips are very appreciated. Thanks,

Hi

Maybe consider an overnight in Kingston. That gives you the option of choosing the Straits or going inside (Saratoga Passage) on your second day, depending on weather. Edmonds would work for this as well. We moor at Elliot Bay and it takes use about 5 hours to motor up going 13 to 14 knots.

We do Edmonds the first night, Anacortes the second, then a quick trip over to Roche the next day. Both are nice stopovers with plenty of food and provision options. Already have reservations.

I saw your boat at Poulsbo at the end of our trip earlier this month! We'll be heading up via Saratoga as well (unless the strait cooperates and there's no fog) and probably fueling up at either Edmonds or Oak Harbor.

for those looking at fuel options. just did the run from Roche via la conner to Seattle

oak harbor is still the cheapest but a little out of the way. Edmonds was actually pretty reasonable? at $5.75. when you look at the extra distance to go to oak harbor edmonds is actually very competitive!

Stoping at Oak Harbor for fuel adds less then 10 miles to your trip if you are running Saratoga passage. So you can do the math but if you need 100 gallons we feel it makes sense and cost offsets the out of the way stop time.

Gas is currently $5.15 at OHarbor.

If you overnight in oak harbor you get 10 cents off a gallon. If just passing through and you get over 100 gallons then it’s 5 cents off I think. Plan accordingly and call ahead to verify. They normally have transient slips available. It’s a bit of a walk to town and not much is open past 9pm on the weekdays. Most places will deliver to the Marina.
