What would the major differences between model year 08 and today's model for the 21 EC.

Over the years we have perfected the build but haven't changed a whole lot on the R21EC. You will find things like new toilets, new electronics, updated refrigerator units, different upholstery and things of that sort. The major change we did make in 2016 was we changed the cabin top drains so when people added canvas, the rain water from the cabin top would drain over the side and not into the cockpit. Don't forget the cockpit table! Not sure if the 08 had the larger swim platform. Sink faucet changed so it fold out of the way now.

Most of the changes are cosmetic.
But it's still an awesome boat for those who want to learn the cruising lifestyle, or those who, having experienced a larger Ranger Tug, want a larger-than-life dingy from the same boating family. 🙂

How could I forget? Cockpit table is now standard and the platform is fiberglass just as John mentioned!

The cabin roof drain, the table and the swim platform plus a well made cockpit enclosure make the 21ec the perfect small boat cruiser for two. The two of us spent eight weeks on Wanderer last summer. Most of days anchor. We do find there is more room to move around in the cabin with the helm seat removed. I stand a lot and with long arms I can sit on a cushion on the fridge. We have 800 nautical miles on the boat over two summers.

In addition to that already mentioned, the 2016 has a larger swim platform, simplified cockpit rail, mast positioned farther forward on the house, relocated fuel tank vent, no radar reflector in the stack and, at sometime during the model-year, the stack stripe no longer matches the hull color.

Don't overlook the biggest differance ,the 08 a few $,,, a 16 a lot more $$$$$
