Today I was able to trace the wiring for the automatic switch of the bilge pump and found that the 3 amp fuse was blown. On the Rule website they call for a 5 amp fuse and the 21 wiring diagram file on this site calls for a 5 amp fuse. For some reason my boat left the factory with a 3 amp. On the c-brat site I recall a number on individuals talking about Rule pumps not working automatic and some questions concerning where they wre actually wired in (before or after the selector switch) Mine was wired before which is right but did have the wrong fuse. After frustration of removing the batteries and the fuel tank to get to the pump I found the problem. If you experience this problem check the fuse and size.

In not wanting to miss state that the factory installed the wrong fuse I need to check one more thing. In review of the c-brat site on the bilge pump problem the individual stated that his 21' had a 500 gph pump. The 3 amp fuse would be right for it. One Rule site showed a 500 gph pump as round and the 750 oval. I have an oval pump but found another Rule site that shows an oval 500. I shall look again tomorrow to verify the pump size and check the correct fuse size. This site shows a 5 amp and will recheck that also. The Ranger factory is top notch and I do not want to claim a mistake was made if not.
More tomorrow.

After checking closer I do stand corrected in that my tug does have a Rule 550 gph in the oval design. With the rated current draw of 2.5 amps the 3 amp fuse from the factory was correct. Without light I could not verify the amp rating of the fuse at the normal switch but will assume that it is correct as intended from the factory After relocating my batteries I am good to go on bilge pump and stuffing box conditions. Again a great little boat from Ranger but the wiring is a challenge to trace and determine what goes where.
Just did not want to say mistake if it was not a mistake.
