21-EC how to remove bilge pump

Can anyone tell me how to remove the bilge pump hiding under the propeller shaft in a 21-EC? I think it is some sort of bayonet twist, lift type thing, but want to be sure I can get it back once it is out. Is there enough clearance beside the propelle shaft to get it out? I am certain the factory put it in before installing the engine.

I bought a new pump for two purposes:
1) see how pump is removed
2) extra pump

Mine is a Johnson and you would never figure it out without a sample or utube. You can hardly see it when installed

I may get a new one. Mine has lots of.hours. tend to turn it on and forget about it. Model # or description for ordering? Thanks.

Replacing the bilge pump before it fails is definitely the way to go. It's a tricky job under the best of circumstances, trying to do it under pressure could be a nightmare. Like Mastercraft, I too have a spare(s). I prepped the installation by adding waterproof connectors to the existing pump wires and the spare pump(s) wires. Now, re-installation can be done pretty quickly if needed in an emergency. I also swap my pump out on a regular basis.

I added a second pump on ours forward of the engine. reason was I went to look at an R21 in Rock Hall, MD. Water was ankle deep in boat when I arrived. Checking the situation revealed that the pump was wired to the start battery and the battery had went dead from pumping. Also, someone had shut off the breaker for shore power. So, with this experience, I always make sure the main pump is on the house battery as I have seen a few boats with the pump connected to the start battery. My second pump I wired to the AC battery bank, so basically I had 3 batteries for the pump, plus I could always start the engine for power, if needed.
