I've rearranged and "modified" my helm area. My boat came with the factory rigged GArmin 740s. I've recently added broadband radar (3G) which necessitated a different display...a Simrad in my case. Anyway, I wanted to keep the 740 in service and I added a Raymarine a68 for downvision. The 740 and a68 are located in a small console I built and mounted as shown in the pic below. The console is 3/8 marine plywood with a mahogany frame around it. The plywood is painted flat black.

This is a pic of the whole set up.

The Simrad NSS8 is the main display, the Raymarine p70r autopilot controller is further starboard. There is a B&G vhf with AIS up top. All that is N2K networked with the rest of the AP components and the a68. It's a tidy little setup.

Fair winds,

David,
Looks great! I'm a little envious.
Cheers!

Looks great.
Please keep us posted on any other changes you make.

Looks great, Dave. I too, am envious down here in Western Australia. Looks like I have some catching up to do! Kind regards.

Hello Surfcaster,

WELCOME to the Tugnuts! thanks for the kind remark.

Yes, the can cooler was a freebie from a "Gathering" in Apalachicola years ago. I keep my Ranger Tugs ball cap onboard to minimize the confusion.

Dave, that's a great looking electronics package ! I have been following your mods through your photo album and the way I figure, with all the additional toys, you must have repainted your waterline at least three times !!! Fran ps. Hung the new Acme 224 prop and ran it up yesterday ..... 10.6 mph @ 3200 rpms wot. 😉 good cruising 8 mph @ 2600 rpm.

Hello Fran,

I appreciate your kind words.

Which prop puller did you buy? OR to put it another way...HOW did you get the ACME 650 off?

dave

Dave, I borrowed an Acme INBOARD prop puller from a local marina ..... two or three twists on the drive bolt and three light taps at 120 degrees, and the 650 popped right off (popped is the operative word). The Acme inboard puller costs right at $95.00 with shipping and tax .... so unless you are going to be switching props frequently .... it gets back to describing owning a boat ... its like standing in a cold shower tearing up twenty dollar bills 😉 Fran
