(Thought I just submitted this one so if it is duplicate sorry)
Can someone let me know the type of sealant used on the rod holders. I have to remove mine.
Thanks

Hello John,

I don't know for sure but would guess it is a VERY sticky (meaning strong adhesive) type of white stuff like 3M 4200.

I would use butyl tape in stead when you re-bed them. I get mine here (http://www.pbase.com/mainecruising/butyl_tape). Very good stuff. I've tried other brands and some are more like chewing gum left on hot asphalt...messy.

Why are you removing your rod holders?

Having Klacko Marine build a Arch and Frame for a full canvas enclosure that will be made by Presission Canvas. The location of the rod holder is a good place for the main support to attach as I can get access to the bolts from the cup holder area. Frame will also have a bar for future solar panel if I need one. So the rod holder will be the location for the frame mounting plate.

That sounds neat. Please post pics when you can.

Hello John,

We use Sikaflex-291 on all of the hardware.

Thanks,

Thanks,
As expected it was on real good!
I just got back from mounting the new frame for the canvas top. I used 4200 fast cure under the plate for the main arch.
It to should be on for the duration.
