Any changes from 2008 to 2009 model.

I know of four changes:

a. The addition of a footrest for the passenger/navigator seating,

b. Racor fuel filter in fuel supply line, ie. primary filter, (a filter was added on some 2008s by the dealer)

c. White waterline stripe with blue hull, (instead of red)

d. The mast was changed from side folding to forward folding.

I think the electrical system wiring was changed and a three position selector switch omitted. I seem to recall the switch on a 2008 model I looked at and was confused when I bought the 2009 model and couldn't find the switch.

Hi Gene,

I noticed that the owner's manual shows a primary fuel filter in the fuel schematic. Can you tell me what model RACOR filter is installed on your tug. I am looking at the 200 series marine filters. There is a wooden bulkhead behind the STBD cupholder teak hatch in the storage locker that looks like it would be a good place to mount a filter.

Aloha,

Rick

Rick - I don't mean to butt in here, but our 2009 R-21 uses a Racor 110A Fuel Filter/Water Separator. This is fitted in the aft locker on the stbd. side as the fuel hose leads to the engine. (The little stowage under the two cup holders is designed to hold fenders, 5" max.) Alex, "Kamalani"

Hi Alex,

Mahalo for your reponse, I have looked at the 110A filter online and it certainly seems like it would be a straight forward installation. I am stopping by a Racor dealer tomorrow morning to check it out in person. The mechanic who taught the diesel course said that the bulk of the problems he sees in marine engines is caused by poor maintenance, with fuel problems being one of the biggest culprits.

Aloha,

Rick
