I just ordered carpet for the cabin of my 21EC with a template supplied from another owner. The carpet is being cut and bound by Corinthian Marine Carpet. https://corinthian-marine-carpet.com/ I saw the carpet they made for another tug at the rendezvous and was so impressed I thought we needed some. The cost was about $240 for the cabin. They have the template for the cabin floor area that I supplied if anyone is interested. I also have the template for the cockpit. I thought I would hold off for now on ordering cockpit carpet as the rains are upon us and I didn't want to store it. I hate to recommend things as I don't want it to haunt me in the future but this was really good durable looking carpet (we ordered teak pattern) and professionally bound. It really made the cabin of the 21 look like a "home" not a boat.

David I'm in the process of ordering the same type of carpet for my 21. I was actually going to go through Ranger. How does yours compare to that offered for $ 740 by Ranger? I will go on your site now. May take you up on your offer.

John-

I did not know ranger sold carpet for the 21. I guess you learn something every day.

I looked at the carpet on the boat of the people I borrowed the templates from and was thrilled with the quality. As I said earlier I really hate to recommend things. They will send out a sample. One nice thing was I didn't have to order for the cockpit at the same time. We have an 11 year old and I can't begin to tell how may soda products and food products have been spilled in the cockpit. I may stick with the rubber mats that are in there for a while.

I did pay a whopping $10.00 extra to have them bound with a Sunbrella product instead of vinyl. They are also going to make a door mat for the entrance out of the scrap piece at no charge. They charge by the foot and the piece to make the carpet for the cabin had to be six feet wide as that was the minimum. The width is about four feet one inch so you can't get three accross. I thought about cleaning out all the stuff in the cabinet on the port side and having another scrap piece cut to fit there. It could stop things from bumping on the fiberglass.

That's all I know. If I get back by in the next day or two I'll drop off the templates and they can get you a price. They were great when I stopped by. Who would think that something like this would actually come from a local company. They must have had 20 or more sets of carpet setting there waiting for the UPS truck when I stopped. I looked at the addresses and they were going everywhere imaginable.

Fantastic - I will contact them now and see if I can get a sample of whats available in the teak design too. Ill f/u once all is completed. I do plan on proceeding with cockpit and like the idea of pacing myself like you.

John.

John,
As an owner of a 21EC who uses a throw-rug in my cabin, do you happen to have any pixes of what the special carpet looks like (or an illustration of what it might look like) that you can share with the rest of us?

Thanks,

JtheK

I'm searching for that now. I went on line and typed in ranger 21ec teak carpet photos and did find one photo. If I can download ill insert.

More to follow.

Ok all found some good photos. Go to www.familyboats.com. They have a 21 EC that has several photos of the teak and holly carpet in the pilot house and cockpit.

Sorry, that link is no longer valid.

On the Corinthian site under the 'products' tab, there is a photo of the "teak and holly" carpet I have inserted below:

The Australian firm, Family Boats, shows waht the factory carpets look like in place. The Corinthian sample looks identical. It is also one of their most expensive carpets (in $/yd).

I just got off the phone with Corinthian Marine...the guy I ended up talking to (Shaun) commented there had been a large number of calls "in just the last two days" inquiring about R21 carpet. My order is in! He said I should have it in less than 2 weeks.

Kudos to David Uphoff...great tip!

Corinthian called today. They said I could pick my carpet up tomorrow. I will post pictures of it when I get it picked up. I will also drop off the cockpit templates.

Till Tomorrow.

Oops...

I forgot to post pictures of mine. It's the strangest thing though, they look just like yours!

Where are the Cola, mustard, and strawberry soda stains on your engine cover cushion? I'll loan you my 11 year old ans his friends then our cockpits will match. 😉

Hello David,

Of course no eating is allowed in the boat...hee hee haa haa! Just kidding. For me boating and eating are inseparable. Must have stacks when out on the boat! I've had the boat only 2 months so give me a year or so and I'll have the upholstery properly stained...er, I mean 'broken in.'

As far as the carpets, the guy from Corinthian said they could be cleaned with a pressure washer if need be. The directions state to use standard carpet cleaner when necessary.

I’d like to get some flooring on my 2008 R21-EC. Ranger Tug doesn’t sell it anymore. Corinthian wants $800 for cabin and cockpit coverage using Teak/Holly. $500 for just the cockpit which is all I really wanted in the first place. While I understand there is craftsmanship involved, 500 bucks for a 4X4 piece of carpet is crazy!

Who else has come up with other solutions? Want a clean and professional look and feel. My boat had some cheap cut carpet when I bought it used but it’s a bit grungy now and never was too crazy about it.
