I noticed this on the last trip out. Up to 2000 or so it is comfortable. But once it is over that rpm the vibrations and noice from that shake the boat and it is hard to even converse. I do not recall the prop hitting anything but here in the Columbia river you never know what lurks beneath the surface. Should I get the prop examined or is it possible it could be something else? Prior to this it was running much as expected.

Hello Dock Walker,

This could also be debris around the shaft or prop. If you have the ability to haul the boat out it would be good to check things out or have a diver go down and have a look.

Thanks Kenny,

Our boat is sounding a little different recently. I emphasize "a little" because this could simply be the warm up taking longer as temperatures drop. I will be pulling the boat in the next days for the semi-annual wash and anode change. Any damage to the prop should be pretty obvious. Giving a pull could show some play in the shaft. A diver could do these steps but what about a step further? Are there run-out figures available for the shaft?

A timely thread. We were coming off Mobile bay Alabama a couple weeks back and I felt A loss of thrust briefly. I pulled back throttle, then neutral. 13’ of water no debris behind the boat. Back in gear and we then headed to the marina where we planned to take cover for a possible hurricane. I think I was more focused on getting to the marina then a vibration so I didn’t notice it. After the storm passed we left the marina and experienced a vibration that shook the boat at anything above 1500 rpm. I put the gear in neutral then reverse, gave it a quick throttle. The vibration was better but still noticeable. The culprit was a crab pot line that was floating in the channel. It had wound around the prop and shaft. After removal all was good.
