I was wondering if anyone has actually weighed their TUG & Trailer (25SC). According to the Ranger site the 2016 dry weight of a 25SC is 6250#'s. I would assume that is not only dry weight but before any extra's like Radar, Dingy, Bimini to name a few. I am thinking that we are looking at about 9000#'s (including trailer) to tow. I have looked around here and found a post regarding the actual weight on a R27 but nothing on the R25SC. If anyone has hard numbers or if you have made estimates please share. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Stinkerbell,
No actual overall trailer weight, but I've weighed my tongue load @ 650 lbs. If that is in the 7% range that has been suggested for a tandem trailer, that would equate to about 9300lbs.total. My 25sc would be the equivalent of the "luxury version", aluminum trailer, full fuel, full water.

My 2008 R25 Classic and trailer weighs a total of 10,040lbs with 1/2 tank of fuel, no water and everything that can go into the truck bed instead of in the boat (heavy food, dinghy, engine, radar/arch, etc). That's 840lbs hitch weight and 9200lbs on the trailer wheels........A far cry from the dry weight!

Thanks for the info. It helps!

We just pulled our R25 and weighed it. With 70 gallons of fuel, no water, empty holding tank, dinghy and motor on boat. The boat / trailer weighed 9660 Lbs. with another 660 Lbs on the tongue / truck. Empty trailer supposedly weighs 1700 Lbs.

Thank you daveo.

I had a chance to weigh my trailer and R25 Classic twice today on the way home from Portland. Both measurements were at closed truck scales but the results were with 50 pounds so I think the're in the ballpark.
Total weight for boat and trailer (including the tongue weight) came in at 9,680 at the first scale and 9,630 at the second scale. Average of the two is 9,655 pounds.
I had a couple of gallons in the fresh water tank (gauge reading empty) and a few gallons in the black tank. Fuel was reading 30% full so I believe I had about 20-25 gallons of diesel while towing. Otherwise I had all my normal cruising equipment on board.
My tongue weight was 530 pounds or 5.5% of gross weight. This 50 pounds lighter of tongue weight measured when I picked up the trailer from the mfg last year. I think the some/all of the difference could be related to the boat being about 2-3 inches aft on the trailer this time compared to having it snug at the forward roller last year. I can't seem to get the "Ranger Bump" to work to slide the boat full forward! I think I will add some weight to the tongue to get the weight up to 6% for the next trip.

Thanks everyone. We purchased a 2013 R25SC and will close on the sale in a day or two. I had to get a rough idea because I needed to rent a truck to pick the boat up. Decided to rent the 3500 GMC from enterprises (instead of the 2500). We are looking forward to our new boat and we hope to find a scale so we can get an idea of the weight with the dingy and other stuff on it.

8200# is the weight of just the boat in the boat dock sling. That includes the dingy, misc stiff on the boat and about 45 gallons of diesel. I will have to weigh or look up on my trailer registration what the weight is for the trailer.

And let me chime in with the crowd.
Just weighed our R25 Classic. 8,100# dead empty of cruising stuff (1/4 tank of fuel and no Maase generator)
On the slings in 2010 it weighed 8,400# ready to go cruising. A dinghy on the back would add to that.
An SC is going to be within a few tens of pounds of those numbers (same boat just divided up a bit differently)
On the trailer it is roughly 10,500# because I believe in a solid trailer. (940# on the tongue).
I have pulled it to Florida and back with two different 2500HD Duramax and that size truck is just right.

Amazed at the different measured weights for the R25 Classic. Our boat on trailer compared to denny-o's rig is 850 pounds lighter. We have every option available on Our Journey (150 hp Yanmar 4YB2) except the generator and A/C.
We do not tow with the dinghy on back - it's stowed in the truck bed for towing. We tow with 1/3 tank of diesel or less and the other tanks as empty as possible. Otherwise we tow with all the equipment you would normally have on board for an eight day cruise - including a microwave!
I have been told that there is not much difference between the aluminum trailer weight and a steel trailer weight. Our's is aluminum and not sure what type of trailer denny-o has. I have not weighed our trailer separately.
If our rig was over 9,900 # I would not be towing with it the Tundra. I would have gone with a 3500 diesel to tow.
I just find it interesting there is so much difference between our boats gross towed weight!

Trailer registration say's 1804 pounds. That puts me a few pounds over 10,000.
