Hello to All:

By the time this event surfaces, our boating season will be coming to a close… at least for most of us less hearty souls. It will also mark a boating season where 75% of our personal boating fun took place in the pristine waters of British Columbia, including places like Desolation Sound and Chatterbox Falls. So accordingly, I thought it might be time to explore some of our US waters in south Puget Sound… this segment of the Roaming Rondy, “The Last Hoorah”, will feature Gig Harbor and Poulsbo.

Save the dates: September 18, 19 – Gig Harbor (Arabella’s Landing) and September 20, 21 – Poulsbo Marina.

Arabella’s Landing, 252.851.1793 (Monique). This marina does not monitor VHF radio, so contact and reservations should be made thru this telephone number.
Port of Poulsbo Marina, 360.779.3505 (Jannese). Reservations will have a non-refundable $5.00 deposit. VHF 66A.

Each skipper will be responsible to call each port for reservations, and mention The Last Hoorah (or Bob Giles) to be grouped together. We have already made our reservations, and I encourage you to do the same if interested. Space is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.

Each of these towns has its own distinct character and charm that make them favorite destinations during the summer boating season, and within easy walking distance from each respective marina. This time of year should offer great weather conditions and a relaxed environment.

Email me your participation after making your reservations to: roaming.rondy@gmail.com

Looking forward to seeing everyone, and until then…

Clear skies, flat water and tight lines!

Cheers,

Bob Giles

i can highly recommend both places. I love to anchor in the poulsbo bay and dingy into the village. There is a ton of good guest dock anyway if thats your preference.

Just a reminder that "The Last Hoorah" will occur a week and a half after the Ranger Tug / Cutwater Rendezvous at Roche Harbor.

Gig Harbor and Poulsbo are our destinations starting September 18th... hope to see you there for fall fun on the water!

ATTENTION:

I mistyped the phone number for Arabella's Landing in Gig Harbor.

The correct number is:

253.851.1793

I apologise for any inconvenience, but I also suggest anyone interested in attending should call ASAP for reservations as it appears we are now competing with another group.

Yea.... that typo cost me some time today trying to contact Arabella's Landing for a slip reservation. Will try again first thing tomorrow. Have made my slip reservation at Poulsbo (Slip #14). I have left this rather late as I've been real busy with my new found fishing activity.

Was out this evening to dusk with marvelously calm seas and no wind to speak of, and managed just one small Silver that I never knew was on my line until I pulled in the line just before heading back to homeport. I had to restrain Jake as I netted the Silver for fear he would try and bite the fish as it wiggled and flapped about. T'was a beautiful evening and when returning to my slip my slip neighbor (Mike & Margret) docked who had been out for most of the day with zero catch. No matter, we had a great chat and was given some White to celebrate the day's fishing. My dock is like a neighborhood with so many friendly people. 😀 This couple was really serious about wanting to adopt Jake... that will never, never happen... Margret started in on Mike saying she really would like to have a R29 CB... at this rate RT sales folk really need to setup camp on my dock as they would surely make some sales.

doh! Im going to be out of town for these. would have loved a final trip to poulsbo this fall.

My wife & I will be joining at Poulsbo, though a day late - Sept 21/22.

We'll be around if anyone is staying through Sunday 🙂

I will be cruising down to Gig from Edmonds going down west side of Vashon Island and then hook a right into Gig Harbor and onto Arabella Landing. Suspect I'll there between 1 -3 PM.

Note, call Arabella Landing as you approach - they don't use radio for communication. - 253-851-1793.

Wed morning looks to be overcast with a southerly 7 mph wind and with some sun appearing by 1 PM. Thur & Fri look to be the same.

Count Sea Eagle in for Poulsbo Friday and Saturday night. Captain Gary and Crew Margo and Baylee. Sounds like fun!! 😀

Was there ever a 3rd or a 4th Annual?

If one is planned for 2022, what number would it be called?

Turas Iolar, hailing from Port Orchard, would welcome that opportunity and probably sign on NOW!

Early Fall cruising in PNW is awesome!

Sea Eagle,

I'm sure it will be a great cruise... Poulsbo and Gig Harbor are always a great destination, but especially this time of year. However, The Last Hoorah is now "Boatless in Seattle"... you can lead your own rendezvous!
