We are looking for a larger boat for weekend/week trips, the Ranger Tug 27' model is one we are looking at at this time. As an avid fisherman we were wondering if there is a 2nd helm available for the stern deck area so we do not have to run through the cabin to get to the main helm.

If not has anyone installed a 2nd helm and what were the issues if any?

Archives are your friend.
There is a 25 that is working as a day charter with a 2nd helm.

I put another Helm Station in the Cockpit of my vessel. Ck out my album and message or call me for more info.

I know that Port Boathouse has done some really cool modifications for fishing and an outside steering station for their customers in the B.C. area. If you send me a private email, I can send you some photos of the installation.

Thank you,

First thing I tried was a search........came up with 0.

You need to talk to sidetrack. He has both the second helm and a reliable autopilot to maintain course while trolling. Do you have the remote for steering the Garmin system? That could help as well. I fish in the ocean and have found that the Garmin auto pilot/rudder combination is not workable for holding a course where as Sidetrack has a system that does work in Puget sound. You can check out his modifications on his album. He might be using a different rudder as well so you need to contact him. You might want to look at some more modest modifications made to my R25sc as well-Swims with Tuna. Luckily I prefer to mooch and still fish rather than troll. Good luck.

Putting "cockpit helm" into the search box (at the top of every page) brings up the Sidetrack threads.
I did not test other search terms. It might take a few tries to zoom in on a given topic depending on how people word things ○

That is what I was thinking of thank you Sidetrack!

That is perfect, what was cost to do something like this?
