Has anyone ever hooked up a man overboard kill switch to a 3ym30. I'm looking for something that's wireless that I would have attached to my PFD or someone else could attached to theirs. I am usually alone when I'm out and my biggest fear is falling overboard and watching the boat sail away with out me. I realize that I should take the boat out of gear at times but sometimes things happen. Thanks

The State of Utah installed a unit on all the center console patrol boats.
Most of these vessels have only a single ranger on board.
It is made by Virtual Lifeline.
It has an antenna mounted on the boat, a control unit and two switches along with a pendant that the operator/ranger wears attached to the life jacket (PFD).
Hope this helps,
Bill

Dave,
I might add that these patrol vessels are all equiped with Yamahas outboards, either single or twins, from 150 HP to 250 HP.

This product interests me -- especially after reading a post by David (formally of Karma) about once going overboard under circumstances where Maureen would never have realized he was OB, but he luckily scrambled on back on board. This appears to be the website for the product: http://www.powerboatsafety.com/vlunit.php

If anyone has installed this, I would love to hear your experience. In 10 years of cruising on the south puget sound (with a few excursions north), we never had call for this. But all it would take is once . . .

Thanks for the replies. I was at the Vancouver boat show on Sunday and asked the Yanmar reps if they had heard of anything but they had not. I will check out Virtual Life line and keep hunting in the mean time.
