4 blade prop 300 Yamaha

I have a C 242 with a 300 hp Yamaha and I’m interested in a 4 blade prop. Has anyone tried one? If so, I would like to know your opinions. Thanks

We just purchased a 4 blade prop for our 2017 C 242 with the 300 Yamaha, but have yet to make the swap. I know that’s not very helpful, but we’re hoping to get to it this weekend…

I put a 4 blade on my F300 on an RT27-OB.

The 4 blade should help with hole shot, low speed maneuvering and docking and improve stern lift. It’ll drop the top end speed a little and will cost some in fuel efficiency.

On a c24 that’s a lighter boat than the RT27, I guess it would depend on what you’re looking to achieve by upgrading to a 4 blade.

We finally got the prop on and have been out a couple of times in very good water. Basically, noticed the above…except our fuel efficiency was just slightly better. Likely not enough to justify buying the prop if that was the only objective. We were able to stay on plane at lower speeds and it was noticeably quieter. No complaints and now we have a spare prop.

Took a while to get this with flat water and not a bunch of people on the boat. Here are the stats With 2 adults, 1 70lb dog, 1/4 tank of water, and about 1/2 tank of fuel.

RPM: 5600
Speed: 41.5 knots
Fuel Economy: 1.51 nm/gal

41.5 knots or 41.5 mph? - idk but the first one seems awfully fast for a 24 foot boat.

I have been able to get 50 mph out of my C24 on a good day with motor trimmed and proper water. There have also been times that I could only get 46 mph out of her. That is with the factory prop. If I see 5700 rpm I know it’s running 49 mph give or take.
