I got a radar error code #6 this past weekend. The HD is not serviceable any longer. Has anyone paired the new GMR 18 radars with a 5212?

thought I would pass on the list of codes

Thanks, I have that list of codes. I called Garmin and they no longer repair these units.I took the unit apart to check for moisture. I removed both circuit boards to check for corrosion and both were clean. Im guessing there is some type of component failure on the board, probably transformer.

Thanks again

Have the 18xHD Paired to a 7212, same operating system just with a faster processor. Works very well. Garmin is fully backwards compatible when it comes to the radar units, however it is advisable not to attempt connecting the newer Fantom units with that generation due to processing power constraints and lack of support for the Doppler features. 18HD+ and XHD should work just fine since they don't have the extra features.

That's what I needed to hear.

Thanks

I’ve read here that HD+ is not compatible, but that xHD is compatible. A confirmation would be great. I’ve also got a 5212 with a dead gmr 18.

GMR18HD+ is directly listed as compatible with units as far back as the 720s which is of the same vintage and software set as the 4200, 5200, 7200 units.
