Who's got one mounted on their weaver davits? Anything to worry about with the ends catching the wake at speed?

We have the factory 8'6" dinghy on Weaver Davits on an 8'6" boat (R27). Works well now but it used to hit the water in waves at high cruise speed. See the following link for the solution we used.

If you are mounting from scratch I would offset mount it a bit such that the bow of the dinghy is shifted a couple inches out (to starboard if the dinghy davits are on the port of the dinghy) to bring the stern tubes in a bit.

The straps help in any case to stabilize which I would recommend even if it didn't hit.

Edit: Our boat has 4" high davits.

On our Cutwater we definitely had to cut and add about 4" to the height of the supports davits to resolve clearance issues with the stern wave at many speeds.
