A Northwest Ranger Rendezvous?

Howard and Carol Gearheart will also be attending minus a boat. We'll be staying at the Hampton Inn above the Marina. We both work at the Monroe plant that produces the new R29. With Zuma, Sporty II, Nellie Too, and Blessings all confirmed attending and of course all the R25 and R21 owners that are contemplating moving up to the R29, we just couldn't miss it. Pete, we'll have plenty of time to talk!!! We'll be there Friday afternoon just as soon as we can lock up the plant. We will depart Sunday morning to watch the Seahawks crush the Rams. (fingers crossed).

Solitude:

Question: What time on Saturday is it anticipated we will set off and cruise up to Poulsbo? I need to know as my work is trying to claim some of my time on Friday making it difficult for me to know if I can set sail for Bremerton Marina on Friday. So I may have to make a dash over early Sat morning.

BTW -- My plan is to haul over to Kingston from my slip in Port of Edmonds, then hug the shore line down to Agate Passage and under the Agate Pass Bridge, then all the way down Port Orchard Bay to the Bremerton Marina. Is this the smartest route? It does seem to miss most of the Ferry traffic. 🙂 Have not figured the routes mileage and wonder from others that may have taken this course just how long it might take? Anyone care to estimate? Thanks.... 🙂

Gill and Barry,
Don't you love that work thing! I was supposed to take two weeks vacation but need to cut it to one week due to "work"! The plan is to leave Bremerton around ten for Poulsbo.

As far as your route, hopefully Bruce or someone can help you with that. I can tell you to reach our favorite anchorage on Lake Mohave it takes us 45 minutes..... I am sure that does not help you out though!

Forgot to also ask, what is the return time from Poulsbo back to Bremerton on Sat ? ...We are returning to Bremerton on Sat, right ?

Gill,
We are departing for Bremerton around two on Saturday. Saturday night dinner will be provided by Maureen and I at the Bremerton Marina. Everything will be provided with the exception of beverages.

I would like to join you Saturday all day also and learn more about the Tugs if that is ok. I have a CD 22' and dream of moving up to the Ranger, as some of you have done. My Sea Coaster lives in the dry stack at Bayside in Everett, and I will probably be coming by land.

Thank you,

Anne Cox

David and Maureen, Solitude, I just read through all the posts on the Rendezvous and did not see an offer of charcoal. Rosalie and I, Harbor Ranger will bring 2 large bags of charcoal. We will be arriving Thursday PM and we did send a picture. Hope you got it. See you soon. What a great event. Thanks for all your hard work. Gary

The last post has prompted me to ask Solitude if there's anything extra needed to support the Ranger GTG event. Is there ?

How about some silly hats. 😉

Anne, Great to have you! Will you be overnighting with all of us?

Gary, Thanks for bringing along the charcoal.

Gill and Barry, Silly hats are fine! It seems that it will be a big party on Saturday night!

Before I forget, what may I contribute to the Sat. eve meal?

Currently I plan to drive and leave my lab at home, so I will not be overnighting there. He and I usually go most places together but I am hoping to perhaps hitch a ride aboard a Ranger for the Poulsbo outing.

Thanks,
Anne

Anne,
Quite simple for Saturday night...... BYOB ("B"= Beverage or Bottle....)
Thanks,
David

Well, I just can't resist the temptation to join in this gathering, though my Ranger Tug has not yet come in. (I will be traveling to SD Sep 23 to bring it "home"). I will arrive Bremerton by land yacht so don't book me a slip, just a parking spot with a view! Alas, the mate can't come.

John

We too are wannabe's. We would like to join you on Saturday night. When and where?

Zuma will be arriving on Friday. But regretfully we may be too late to host wine and tapas, so we ask your forgiveness.
Work and flight schedules may mean that Janeane and I will have a challenge arriving in Bremerton with the boat at the same time. Will be happy to pick up the garbage or any other menial task which may need doing.

But, we are certainly looking forward to meeting all of you.

We wish you safe cruising to Bremerton.

Lyman and Janeane

As I said earlier, I will be arriving Thursday afternoon and plan to stay for three nights. But I'd also like to invite a friend to join me at some time over the weekend.

Is there an informal schedule of events for this shindig? If so, can someone please post it here. That will help me know when I should invite my friend so she can take advantage of some of the scheduled activities.

Thanks, again, and I look forward to seeing everyone this weekend. I'll be the person whose boat has the horizontal gold stripe on it! 🙂

Cheers,

John, aka johnniethek, owner of the Red Ranger

Gil and Barry --- I just noticed your comment about your route. From Edmonds, around Pt. Jefferson, to Agate Pass bridge should take a little over one hour. From Agate Pass to Bremerton should take another hour and a half, depending on currents under the bridge. You will have the current with you until about noon when the ebb will build to about 2.5 knots by 1:00pm. (Nothing that will cause you any trouble, just slow you down.)
Many, many, many years ago as a kid I lived at Sandy Hook south of the bridge. On nice days I would row my 8 foot pram to Suquammish, do some shopping, and then row home. All the time riding the currents both north and then south.

John (Red Ranger),
Gotcha coming in on Thursday afternoon with a guest in attendance at sometime..... The informal agenda, Friday and Friday night, get to know the other Tugnut's. Dinner is on your own or whatever should transpire on the dock......

Saturday, Depart Bremerton around 10:00 am, cruise to Poulsbo, Lunch on your own or you know the drill......, Cruise back to Bremerton at 2:00 pm. Saturday night dinner will be hosted by my wife Maureen and I of Solitude. Sunday morning, muffins and bring your own coffee on the dock.

John,
Park in one of the public lots close to the ferry dock or Hampton Inn unless you are coming from Seattle. Then take the ferry it puts you off right next to the marina.

Wannabee's,
The rendezvous is at the Bremerton Marina on Washington Street in Bremerton. The marina is behind the Hampton Inn and next to the ferry dock. If you are coming from Seattle, take the ferry.

Solitude arrived in the PNW today! She will be at the Ranger Factory until Thursday when I splash her in the Sound! The drive was 1150 miles taking a total of 19 hours. I stopped along the way and had her weigh. She came in at 10,020 pounds with all gear, full tank of fuel, full water tank.

Gill,

As to your proposed route, I think thaat is the best plan! I tend to go that way unless I need to hit Seattle. It is nice because it is protected...More so, and avoids the "big Boys!" More importantly is, that if you can't leave until saturday, it puts you at the head of liberty bay and straight shot for Poulsbo...Just MHO...But, good plan. Remember, after entering liberty bay, by the torpedo test facility, it is pretty much a no wake zone all the way to the marina, so just factor that into your cruise timing.

Cheers, See you this weekend...
Drew

Thanks for that advice & info. It appears that Island Ranger (Capt. Mac) will be taking the same route on Friday. 🙂 Weather for Friday is being reported as being Sunny. 😀

I had my two small Fox Terriers on the boat yesterday for the first time. One decided the best place was laying on the shelf in front of the Nav seat above the Glove box. A great lookout position. 😉 The other one found the tilt up chart table above the cave was best for both stern and bow lookouts. 😉 They also were confused with the cabin's glass door to the cockpit. They got annoyed it was not a simple pass through as they could clearly see through.

If I left any of the cabinet doors open and turned my back on it one or both of the dogs would disappear into the bowels of the boat.....

This is going to be interesting seeing how our Fox Terriers figure things out. They haven't heard the engine run nor felt the boat rocking about yet....

Looks like we're going to get a later start on Friday than we had originally planned. I hope that we will now arrive around 7pm on Friday night. We sure are looking forward to seeing everyone!

Linda created a new burgee for Island Ranger - I think it looks great! I'll post a picture in my album, and try to insert a copy here:

Please be sure to come by and check it out. I'm sure she'd like to make more (for a fee) customized with your boat name if anyone is interested.
