A question about drain plugs.

Noticed that bilge and swim platform plugs don't fully screw in. Although tight,about 3/8 inch of threads are visible.
Is this okay?
 
Also if you trailer a fair deal its a good idea to carry a spare drain plug, in the event you leave one behind one day!
