AC on cool or dehumidify

Just my 2c......Leaving the AC on while away from the boat is a personal decision. It is awfully nice to board and not have a steaming cabin. But be aware of the risks. Marina neighbor had a leak develop while away and boarded to find seawater soaked interior berth. Still smells like dead fish and he's tried everything. As to the cycle, I prefer the AC set high, vs dehumidify because it does cycle less, especially when it is hot. if you have soft start there might not be as much wear on the compressor, but with the hard start a 5x starting current is why you hear the slamming thump when the compressor is on.

Thanks for your response. One reason for keeping the AC on is to prolong the life of all the electronic equipment. Also to prevent moisture buildup in the cushions and possible mold accumulation elsewhere. Luckily ours is a freshwater boat and close to our house so I can go by most every day.
