So, does the generator produce AC power to run the boat i.e. like a honda portable generator powers the wall outlets and AC systems.
Or, does the generator only power the Inverter and the inverter supply to the boat outlets and AC?

How do people make the AC run off the engine alternator? Alternator puts out 100amps to the batteries, AC runs off the inverter which runs off the batteries?

I'm looking at how I can get AC while underway without running the generator.
I don't think my 2018 C30/435hp with 2xAC and Gen will power an AC unit. The inverter is 2000 watts, but is the ac run off the inverter?
Do you have to wire the AC into the inverter power system?
Is the AC only wired to the shore power circuit?
I closed on my boat yesterday! But cannot take delivery till 15 jan.

On ours the generator supplies the AC directly. The air conditioning will run off generator while unde. The inverter is off while using the generator.
The setup after 2018 is a whole different story.

After 2018....to mean not including 2018?
Wonder what is different between 2019+ than the up to 2018.

Assuming you can....
What happens when you turn the power selector to inverter and then turn on the AC? Of AC is wired to a gerator/shore power only circuit.
I'm guessing from memory on how you choose between gernator and shore power. I think there was a rotary knob.
Wish my boat was here in New Mexico and not in Florida.

I am not sure of exact date but they have been transitioning to making the generator unnecessary. Biggest issue in doing that is the air conditioning.
If you look on the ranger tug site you will see the generator is no longer an option. I believe they have increased inverter size and switched a/c units such that they can get 6 hours of a/c out of the batteries before recharging through shore power or alternator on the outboard. Mine is a 2018 and has the generator. I use generator for a/c, microwave and outdoor grill. Not sure if it was late 2019 or 2020 when change was made.

Check out the Dometic cuddy I I marine a/c . It says it runs off 12v.

Somebody wiser than me will chime in.

Is the 12,000 in the bedroom and 16,000 in the salon? I assume so, but just a guess.
