With this current heat wave, I've considered running the AC while underway. This would require the generator to be running. What happens to the 12 volt charge created by the alternator and simultainiously by the Promariner from the generator ? Is there an overcharge issue ? How is the system protected ?

I don't know how it works but have done it lots.. It is hot here 🙂

You are good to go. Each system monitors battery charge and will cease charging when battery is at capacity.

We have been running Generator and Air conditioning the last 3 months in FL.
Everything seems OK.
Believe the engine alternator dominates as it reads 14.1 - a little hi and Inverter - charger starts there and drops to 13.4.

One issue: On my 2010 R-25, the raw water inlets and pump screens on both the generator and air conditioner are TINY and often clog solid if used underway. Rather than have the safety switches shut down the generator, I replaced both screens with the new larger size used on the new -25.

No problems, no shutdown, no issues since then.

If you have 1/2" line on the raw water inlets and a 1/2" pump saver, it will clog if run in the crap that passes for water in South Florida. Cheap fix, easy to do, problem solved.

We are in Delray Beach and a clogged inlet screen is cause for mutiny in the middle of the Summer. The problem is fixed on newer boats, but it is worth checking. The actual way to "do it" would have been to use a dedicated sea chest on the main engine and another identical screen/sea chest on the port side for the wash down pump, the a/c, and the generator.
