Access Courtesy Lights on a 2012 R29 S to Fix Leak

A small leak has presented in the head of our boat. Tracking it back points to water coming in around the forward port side courtesy light on the side deck. My question is how do you access or remove these lights so that they could be resealed?

If they are the same as we had on on prior 2012 R27 the unit should have a chrome looking cover over the top
Part of the light? If so you need to use a fine/thin utility knife or hobby screw driver to gently pry the chrome looking piece out from the light. The chrome piece had 2 legs that go into the light much like an electric plug. Get this bezel off and you’ll find 2 small screws to undo so you can get the light off to re bed the seal.

I’ll be interested on how you get the light off. I have a similar issue with my trailering lights which look exactly like the courtesy lights. For the life of me I can’t see a clear way to access the screws that attach the light to the hull. I’ve tried to gently pry off the “cap” that covers the screws but so far without success. Good luck.

Hey John,

What Jim described above is correct, once the screw covers are off you can then remove the screws that hold the light in place to re-seal. Be careful as I would guess those covers might be brittle but can be replaced. Hope this helps!!
