We would like to add a 110 outlet to the port side of our C30 in the hanging locker area for a 110 V TV and Apple TV box. Has anyone added an outlet for a TV? It would appear that tapping into the microwave power source would be the nearest option.

Would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Following this discussion as I want to do exactly the same in my C28.

I added a Samsung smart Tv in the V-berth and an additional outlet for of my C-pap. I used attached a 12/3 boat cable to the load side of the GFI outlet located in the Galley. This is on the port outlet breaker. Matching the same amount of outlets that was installed on the starboard outlet breaker by the factory.

Outlet installed for c-pap and to power cellular Hot spot

The power cable is in protected sheathing running between hull and liner

Outlet installed and TV cable run

Smart TV installed With Cable run to 12V digital antenna or Hotspot for Streaming

Power cable run between hull and liner, water line run to bow for raw water anchor wash down. I removed the port side monkey fur bulkhead in the quarter berth to gain access to run 12/3 boat cable, coax cable and water line.

I talked with Kevin L from Fluid Motion today and we went through several options to bring 110 V to the port side of the stateroom. It appears that the simplest may be to tap into the the 110V outlet on the starboard side of the stateroom and fun Marine tinned copper wire down to under the floor by the shower pump access and then drill a small hole in the floor of the locker under the hanging lover area and run an electricians tape down to the shower pump area to attach and pull the wire into the locker. From there I can feed to the side or floor of the hanging locker to allow the plugging in of a 110 V TV and and Apple TV box. I will than secure the wires where they can be accessed near the shower pump and connect to the outlet box on the starboard side.

I will let all know how this works out. The first thing I will do though is make sure that I can get the wire tape down to the shower pump area from the port side before drilling any more holes🙂

Sorry for not checking the auto correct. Too many funny spelling errors🙂🙂

This was something I wanted to do for my 2019 R29 CB and should have asked for it during the boat's assembly. No matter, my simple approach to this was to connect an extension strip to the starboard side's 110v outlet and run the extension strip's cord across and under the berths second cavity behind the sliding draw. Then my long Apple TV cord was routed over to the extension strip to power up the Apple TV4 (ATV version 4). This was very easy and IMO quite safe and all done within a few minutes without drilling holes and figuring out how to run wires etc.

FYI... The R27/OB (at least on my previous 2018 model) has a 110v outlet on port side to power up the coffee maker as standard. Thus attaching the ATV for the TV was a no-brainer.... and I just thought erroneously the R29 CB would have a similar 110v outlet in the same position.... :?

Thanks for the advice and option. I might try a hybrid of that option and put the Apple TV on the Starboard side by the outlet and run a longer HDMI cord under the bed to the TV on the port side. That way I would not have an electric cord under the bed. I think I will pick up some 3M Command cord holders to tuck the HDMI cord up under the padded bolster on the run to the TV.

Thanks

Add on outlet installed at factory TV location.

If you are wanting 120V at the factory mounted TV location it is a very easy install on a C26 and C28 and possibly the C30. Remove the outlet cover of the GFI in the Galley, loosen the electrical box holding Tabs. Pull the electrical box out of cutout. Feed a 12/3 boat cable into box cutout. When the cable is feed into the cut out it will fall down to an area between the hull and a removable interior monkey hair bulkhead/panel located in the 1/4 berth port side remove it and the panel that gives access to the marine air unit. This gives good access to run the 12/3 boat cable to the new receptacle location. On the C26 or C28 there is a cup holder at the co-pilot seat port side remove the cup holder and run a electrical fish tap down it . The fish tape will be seen at the marine air unit. Attach the 12/3 boat cable to it and pull cable up through the cup holder. Open the cabinet that the TV is mounted to. All wires located in the cabinet come from the area of cup holder location. Run electrical fish from inside cabinet to cup holder location. Attach 12/3 cable to fish and pull cable into cabinet. Cut a hole opening for electrical receptacle box install receptacle box, wire the outlet and install. Wire tie the cable in place all the way back to the GFI. Wire the newly installed 12/3 boat cable to the load side of the GFI receptacle. Reinstall the receptacle in place. Reinstall money fur panels in in 1/4 berth. This is about a 2 hour project. Running the cable from quarter berth to bow where my smart TV is installed was a PIA. That project took about 4 hours.

Removal of the two panels approx 12 #8 screws gives full access of all wiring on port side.

This is not possible on the C26 or C28 because there isn't clearance between the inner cabin liner and hull for a cable run. Also there isn't a good access to pull the 12/3 boat cable from the starboard electrical box. I looked at using this location to but there was no way to get to it without cutting access holes. I didn't want to do that. C30 must be built differently than C26 and C28 having the larger area in the forward berth area.

That is a good solution as well. 🙂

On my C30 I run a long extension cord to the aft port electric box to run the roku box that opens up netflix, youtube and more. So glade there is a easy way to add a box near the tv and maybe replace the 12 volt tv that takes a break about every half hour for some reason.
