I have been looking for a R27 OB and spotted a NE Edition here in FL. No AC here in Florida, the Great Loop, or the Bahamas can be tough so adding air conditioning would be desirable but losing the diesel heater would be a shame for the chillier days on the water. Is it possible to add AC and not lose the diesel heater? TIA,

I have an R23 with factory webasto heat. A ranger tug dealer added a shore powered Dometic 8,000 btu unit under the port side bench seat. This ac has one output grill that shoots ice cold air into the forward sleeping area. You might want to check if you already have an available thru hull water intake for an ac unit. The rest is moving things around and wiring. Good luck.

I talk specifically about that in this video.

NorthWest Edition vs the Luxury Edition

It's an interesting challenge. Not sure there is enough space to do both. A few things to consider...
You need AC underway. The cabin is like a greenhouse underway. When it's above 70s outside, it can get pretty warm inside. When it's 90s outside, and wind wave kick up to where you have to close windows and vents, it gets pretty miserable inside. Even with the ports and windows open, it's still pretty stuffy once it gets into the 90s.
The AC can provide heat underway, as long as you're not in danger of freeze issues. That's my issue in VA, I can have heat and AC until late Dec, but once winterized, the boat's really only comfortable when it's 60s outside.

Just my experience.

have any pictures under the seat?

I have a factory AC boat, and want to add a heater in my 23. looking at throwing the heater unit under the sink in the sleeping area and exhaust running out with the rest of the thruhulls

PM me and I will send you pics.
