Adding cockpit lights power source

I want to install accent lighting under the gunwales. What's the best way to provide power?

(1) integrate to starboard aft switches for service and underwater lights?

(2) Connect directly to house battery. Where can you connect a positive and negative to the main battery bus bar?

Not a direct reply to your question (although I think both of your suggestions would work), but we have opted for rechargeable LED 'puck lights' that we can move around under the bimini. Simple to install (no drilling, wiring, etc.) and work fantastic, plenty of light on high power yet dimmable. We used them every night last week and haven't had to charge them yet.

We went with the warm light / cool light ones, although a thought was to go with the RGB ones and we could also use them as port/starboard navigation lights in an emergency - could clip them on to the front rails.

I was looking more at rgb led strips which I need to connect to 12v source. I'm going to try a 4 rocker switch replacing current underwater and cockpit lights. Anyone done this before?
