In the cruising north workshop Mac LaMay discussed a number of online marine weather forecasting resources. Here are some links he and others mentioned. I've added some others I learned about in a recent USPS weather class.

Wunderground Marine Weather*
NOAA National Data Buoy Center*
Puget Sound Area NWS forecast discussion**
National Weather Service - NWS Seattle
Experimental Forecast Weather Table Interface 7 day forecast data in grid form via map
Washington State Ferry realtime wind
NWS Pacific NW enhanced radar
Pacific NW forecast and observation (from the UW School of Atmospheric Sciences)
Cliff Mass Weather Blog (UW professor of atmospheric sciences makes sense of the data!)

* top level link - you can drill down to your cruising grounds from here.
** detailed discussion which is boiled down to brief VHF forecasts.

Cheers,

Bruce

Here is another site from the Univ of Wisc that works well on the computer or a Blackberry that provides current radar images of weather thru out the US. Once you find the area where you boat, save it to your browser for ready access to what is coming your way. A great resource when traveling by boat or car.

Hey Tim, it's a pleasure. Most of these drop off at the border. And, for some reason, our national weather service and your national weather service don't do a lot of cooperative forecasting. Our NWS gives all their "products" away, but I think you folks have to pay for some, right?

Can you recommend any online weather forecasting tools for BC waters?

Thanks,

Bruce
