We are underway on an extended cruise and the HOT temps on the Chesapeake Bay have us running the air conditioning extensively.

Have a few questions on the AC:

1. What is the Aft Relay breaker (below the Fwd Air and Aft Air breakers) for?

2. When I want to run the forward AC only, I do not get water discharge and have to turn on the Aft AC. Does this have something to do with Aft Relay breaker?

3. How do I get access to the Aft AC? The owner’s manual says it’s under the helm seat.

4. Besides cleaning the thru-hull strainer, is there any other routine maintenance I should do as part of running the ACs more?

Thanks for the assist!

I have a 2018 R31, and was told when I took delivery of the boat, The Relay Breaker insures that both the forward and aft AC compressors do not actuate at the same moment.. (lots of Amperage involved there !!). It lets one start, then followed by the other as needed. I was also told to always turn it on even when using just one air conditioner...fore or aft...
I often will use just one of the AC's, but always turn on all 3 breakers.. Both AC's and the relay, and just turn off the AC not being used at the thermostat itself... seems to work fine ... Not sure of the dealer explanation.. but seems to work OK !!
Did not however note if one water discharge shuts down or not... will have to follow up on that...

Thanks Pete!

Sent an email to Tim Bates of Ranger Tugs and he advised that the aft relay breaker allows you to operate both units from only one raw-water pump. It basically ‘relays’ the command to turn on the water pump from each of the units.
