Initially as I took our C-30 CB out both the bow and stern thrusters were operating fine (and they were not worked hard when getting underway from dock), however after a short 5 minute trip over to the to the fuel dock the stern thurster was not working at all. Bow thurster remained fully operational, and afterwords I was able to start and run the generator, which I believe runs off the same battery. Later in the day ,after running the boat for several hours, still only have a working bow thruster too.

Has anyone experienced something like this where the aft thruster stopped while in use? Or maybe Is there a fuse somewhere that I can check? Thanks.

Our stern thruster went out mid-use coming into our slip. Turned out to be a bad relay. Dealer handled under warranty.

Would like to confirm relay location, are there two of them in the bottom of the two hatches located forward on the starboard side of the cockpit (beneath where the shore power cables come into the boat)? Thanks.

As an update, I had the motor pulled for the aft thruster, I found corrosion inside on both the electric motor and on the shaft going to the exterior thruster. Because I was not the original owner, and even though it’s only about a year old, the manufacturer refused to offer any assistance. It looks like the water intruded from the exterior thruster body itself, so it’s not an install issue, rather it was a manufacturing defect. Too bad the manufacture (Lewmar) would not stand behind their products.

Stern thruster quit on our 2015 R 27. It was a blown fuse. I now have spares. Easy fix.

Thanks, but was not the fuse. Took the unit to the ship and it was frozen solid. Either expensive rebuild or replace are only options.

Have a similar problem with our 2015 R31-CB. Found that the stern thruster housing had leaked - in the process of installing new housing and keeping my fingers crossed....bow thruster works perfectly.

On mine it was the relay inside the motor - I had to take out the motor and give it to our dealer.
