I started up the genny just to "exercise it" as I hadn't used it for a while. I flipped on the air conditioner breakers at the salon panel but there was no power to it. However, the air conditioner worked on shore power. I opened the cockpit table seat compartment to check the breakers in there. The shore power breaker was on, the A/C breaker was open. I tried again with the breakers visible. The A/C breaker opened as soon as I threw the 2 breakers on the A/C panel in the salon to turn on the air conditioning. So that branch was shorting out somewhere.
One more piece of possibly irrelevant information. The shore power breaker in the compartment in the cockpit is always closed (on) because the test button doesn't work. Probably a faulty breaker, and I know, dangerous if anybody is swimming nearby. I had plans to get a new breaker. Is it possibly these 2 issues are related?
I'd appreciate any advice on how to approach this problem.
