Air conditioner install in year-old RT

I have a 25 ft RT that I didn't air condition at the time of building. I'd like to do so now, and am seeking wisdom from my fellow Tug Nuts on the feasibility...how expensive is is?....how long should it take? I don't live near my dealer, but have access to some very competent tech people at my marina.

I replaced the 12 volt air conditioner in my 21EC with a 110 volt 6000 btu unit without too much difficulty. I'm not sure of how much space you have but my unit fit easily in the space where the old AC was. Running the electrical and duct work was fairly easy. We only use the unit when in a marina since I don't have a generator but the comfort of sleeping in a 65 degree cabin during the hot nights in Florida was worth every cent. Fortunately the thru hull water intake and outflow holes where done at the factory so I didn't have to poke holes in my boat. Something you will probably have to do to get A/C. Total cost of A/C, pump, electrical and misc was about $2500. I have the full details of the install on a previous post.

I was with an R-27 owner in Marathon who had a retrofit Wabasto AC installed when he got to Stuart, FL. From what I heard the install when well and it works like a charm. I seem to remember that it cost around $5,000. PM me and I will see if I can get his contact info so you can chat with him.

Hi there. I did an aftermarket install on a new R27 (well the dealer did!). It fits perfectly under the stove. We fabricated a vent below the shelf to the rear of the captain's seat against the wall. It looks great - blends in completely. We also put a vent into the V Berth. It wasn't cheap, $5,000 exactly.

Friends of ours have a Cdory and installed an A/C unit on the roof, that is totally electric and does not use water.. the big advantage being they can use it while traveling with the boat on the trailer. I don't know if there is room for this on your roof but it seemed like a great idea.

Thanks to all of you for very useful stuff. The recommendation of Webasto brand is a good starting point. I don't know where nearest dealer to Westport, CT is, but I'll find out. Bought Follies last year in New Jersey.
