I have a 2016 r27 ranger trawler. My Webasto FCF air conditioner is blowing air but the condenser is not coming on. I'm receiving a E3 error code that comes on after the system has been on for a while.

Here’s the manual link To the E3 code, which is low pressure for the refrigerant: https://defender.com/assets/pdf/webasto ... pdf#page24

A couple things to try - switch from AC to heat setting. The reversing valve may be stuck and this could free it. It’s recommended to exercise that valve a couple of times per season. You could also just try to shut it off and restart it after waiting 10 seconds, or unplug the thermostat and reset after 10 seconds.

Good luck!

Check water flow and check for a bad capacitor. Mine stopped working and after a bunch of stuff it was a simple capacitor.
Has been working fine now for 3 years.

What is the best way to access the air conditioner on a 27 Ranger?

Once again , thanks for your feedback. Can you recommend a mechanic in the New York area, that is familiar with the Ranger 27.?

You don't need anyone familiar with Ranger Tugs, you need a marine refrigeration/air conditioner technician. Doesn't matter what type of boat it's in, they're all pretty much the same.

I had this same error. Sadly these units are sealed and not really serviceable for the most part. Also, you can get them on sale for under 1k. I opted to just replace the entire unit. Be aware though, the factory never connected the drain hoses to the shower sump, so check that too.

On my 2018 C242 the AC stop work after about two years. I cleaned the entire water system and the unit would still not work. I had a local AC marine technician come and he checked a few things and said I need a new unit. I thought now way it could go out that fast. As another gentleman said the units are pretty much none serviceable. Another AC tech came and help put in a Freon charging port but the system was still full of Freon witch I believe was 3/4 pound of Freon. I started investigating myself and when I opened up the electrical panel I found the problem. A 50 dollar capacitor had gone bad so I fixed the burnt wires and installed the new capacitor and the unit has been working fine now for over three years. What is the most common item that goes out on your house AC? The capacitor. Feel free to call me if you have any questions. 301/704 seven 0 four six
