I have a 2013 R31-CB with a Volvo D4-300. I recently had an alarm coming from a horn connected to the Volvo Penta engine instrument on the fly bridge. This display only shows engine start or stop. It does not give any alarm codes. The alarm was about every 15 sec and very loud. I looked on the lager more complete Volvo gauge at the lower helm and there were no warnings. All engine parameters appeared to be in spec. I shut off the engine and restarted it and the alarm returned. I finally put three layers of tape on the horn to keep it from driving me insane. The next morning and all the next day there was no alarm. Can anyone help me identify why this alarm was ringing? That instrument does not do anything, as far as I know, other that start and stop the engine. Please help. Thank you!

We also had this alarm on one of our first outings after buying our used 2013 31CB in October. Being very new to the boat, we had no idea what it was and the prior owner didn't seem to know either. There was no visual indicator on either that display or the more complete display at the lower helm. I fumbled around with the wires and alarm eventually went away. That was almost 10 months ago now, with regular use and no more alarms, and I forgot it even happened until your post. I'll be curious if you/we get an explanation here.

Just wanted to chime in and say we have had the exact same occur (4 or 5 separate occasions) on our 2016 29CB. No alarm codes, no warnings, no rhyme no reason...etc. Frustrating but we think it may be caused by a wiring issue under the CB helm station.

BTW, what does that instrument do? Nothing happens when I press the buttons and I can’t seem to find it in the literature.

Same issue here. I disconnected the wiring harness behind the unit while underway and that eliminates the intermittent beep, but also renders your upper helm Start / Stop station inoperable. I changed out my batteries last month and this has never happened again. I really think it’s a low voltage warning.

Interesting that it is happening to others. I just replaced all my batteries this spring. It is not a low voltage alarm on this boat. The upper helm Volvo Penta display on my boat just allows you to start or stop the engine. There are no other functions enabled.

Now we have a group, hopefully someones else reads this that has found the answer.
