Hi:

I am a 3 month veteran with my new 2017 R31-CB which now has about 40 hours on it. There have been a few issues and my dealer has been very helpful but my location is the panhandle of Florida and my RT is 50 miles from my dealer and I am 200 miles north. With this situation the learning curve takes longer. We do visit the Tug about twice a month where she stays on a lift at our Condo in Fort Walton Beach, FL.

Switching helm stations has always been intermittent, at first I figured I was doing something wrong. I finally got the manual out. At first I probably didn't know to make sure the other station was unlocked but I'm a creature that tries everything and I always got it to work but sometimes it took awhile. Now that I know how it is supposed to work it doesn't at all and I realize it was intermittent before. Stations unlocked and trans in neutral. Press station button on the control you want to use and beep you now have control. Lock station and other control cannot take over.

Now it doesn't work at all. When attempting to transfer control to the Command Bridge an audible alarm goes off about once every 10 seconds and the station will not work even though the green station light is on and all controls are in neutral. Lock light will come on and this doesn't change anything. Silencing the alarm and being able to move forward or reverse requires going down to main helm and pushing station button and then that control will work.

I've let the dealer know and they said they will try and get one of the far away Volvo Techs to come out and said it may take a few weeks.

The engine can be started and stopped from the Command Bridge. I've shut everything down, and restarted everything but still no change.

Any suggestions of anything I might try? I found a short thread that described this issue on Tugnuts but it only described the issue not the fix.

Update: local Volvo tech came out and said the bridge helm station was bad. One is on the way.

Helm station replaced today and all is well. Thanks to Carl at Edgewater Marine for taking care of this.
