I own ranger 31CB (6 months old)
an alarm went off informing me I had water in fuel
I acknowledged the alarm in the lower Galley controls on the Volvo gauge and the audio alarm went off however the red warning light top of gauge still flashing
However if I give control of the boat to the upper deck I still get an alarm only on the upper deck, it seems to come from the small Volvo gauge that you start engine from
I have turned controls off and on several time to reset and no success in getting rid of the alarm (loud piecing beep about every 15 seconds)
the only way i can turn of the alarm is to turn of the engine battery switch at the stern under the sink
I am not 100% certain the alarm is related to the water in fuel issue, but have no other hypothesis
right now I cannot operate my boat from upper deck as the alarm is driving me nuts
any thoughts other than call in Volvo or Garmin tech ?

Have you tried draining the fuel filter located on the engine compartment wall? It is white in color and has a golden T handle on top of the housing. There is a bolt on the bottom, believe its a 14mm, loosen and drain fuel out into a cup and check. Water is heavier than fuel so it will be at the bottom. Shouldnt have to drain the whole thing but I would start there.

Did you ever resolve the periodic beeping issue? I have a periodic beeping on the command bridge when the command bridge has throttle control engaged, similar to your description. However I never had an alarm for water in the fuel/water separator.

Periodic beeping can be from many things. If it is Volvo or Engine related, that would be displayed on the main engine gauge. I hear fish alarms that people turn on with the Garmin quite a bit. Turn off your electronics and see if the beeping goes away so you can isolate where it is coming from.

Thank you,

Had a similar alarm/warning about "water in fuel" a while back and engine wouldn't start. Pulled out the manual and went through the steps to remove the water in the fuel separator.

Turned out that it was a false warning and the actual cause was low battery voltage. Flipped the parallel switch and engine started right up and warning/alarms went away. (Thanks Ralf for your help!)

Still not sure why low battery voltage resulted in "water in fuel" warning but putting this out there in case others experience something similar.

FWIW, I have also experienced an annoying every-15-second alarm on the command bridge, but I do not believe it was related to water in fuel. It seemed to be a result of some sort of conflict between the upper and lower stations. The alarm only occurred before I understood how to properly transfer control between the upper and lower helms-- and I had randomly pressed the different Station buttons a bunch of times. I think that I somehow confused the system with too many button presses! Now that I follow the correct transfer process, I haven't had the alarm again.

I get that alarm every time I start my D4 260 on my 2013 C28. I have drained the filter several times and I still get it. Sometimes if I shut the engine down and turn the engine battery switch off and on, then restart, it goes away. Ghost in the machine!
