HEY NUTTERS, THIS SHOULD BE INTERESTING. OUR 'CHRISTINA BEE' DOES NOT HAVE FACTORY AIR OR A GENSET. I DO HAVE A HONDA 2000 EU, [ACTUALLY 2 OF THEM SO I CAN RUN THE AC IN OUR TRAVELTRAILER] WILL A 2KW GENERATOR RUN THE FACTORY AIR? HAS ANYONE EXPERIMENTED WITH OTHER NON FACTORY OPTIONS? WE HOPE TO TAKE THE'BEE' DOWN TO THE SEA OF CORTEZ THIS WINTER AND I'M CONSIDERING ALL OPTIONS.. WE WILL BE IN THE SAN JUANS AND GULF ISLANDS FOR A MONTH AFTER THE RONDIVUE.. LOOKING FORWARD TO MEETING IN PERSON,, ALL THAT WE HAVE SHARED POSTS WITH IN THE RECENT PAST..... STEVE AND TINA, STILL WITHOUT A CLUE

Steve,
We run the factory air with a single Honda 2000 EU generator. It will run for five hours on a single tank while operating the air. As you can guess, that means you have to get up at night and refill the tank at least once.

The Laurie Ann does not have AC and because she is the PNW 98% of the time, we will not install it. However, we do have our hot weeks and we will return to the Great Circle Loop this fall for winter cruising in Florida and continue on the east coast.

For those times, we have installed 12 volt fans in the living area. We have replaced the ones we first bought with the Caframo Ultimate, 2 speed fan, sold at West Marine. It is very effective, draws only .59 amps and with three of them, they really make a difference. We mounted one on the port side next to the wiper motor, one above the stove (we took out the 12 volt light), and the third is on a clamp with a long cord to move around as necessary. These fans are really quiet and really blow the air.

Yep - me also bought one of those Caframo Ultimate fans at West Marine in Edmonds. 30% off as they are closing down Sept 7th because West Marine is consolidating their stores to a Super Store on Westlake alongside Lake Union -- not far from their current Mercer/Terry location. The fan works great as you've posted.

Our R-21 EC has the 12 vdc AC; it's rated at 5000 BTU. It's a small, compact unit with a simple controller. I doubt it would cool the entire R-25, but it should keep a sleeping area cool. One might even put in two units. Eliminates the need for a genset.

I put two 115 vac AC units in our Albin 27. They worked well.
