Hey folks,

Patty and I are towing Gemini Gypsy to Anacortes, Washington this Spring and heading up though the Inside Passage. With roughly 1600 hours on our Yanmar 260 we’d like to get a valve adjustment on her. I need a recommendation of a mechanic to do this in the Anacortes area.

Also, our hypalon aluminum RIB has a weaver davit standoff bracket rubber pad that is peeling off (I installed it), Please, we need a recommendation for a dinghy/weaver davit repair shop.

The boat is currently halfway to Anacortes from Key West…. We’ll pick her up there and continue in about 6 weeks. I’d like to get ahold of who ever is to work on her to make a “reservation “

Thanks all,

According to the Yanmar BY series Service Manual I have, the valves on those engines are hydraulic self-adjusting. They should not need adjustment.

Thank you Cookie. I have the service manual and never noticed that…. Even verifying your hydraulic self-adjustment statement took me a bit to find in the manual. That saved me $$.

My pleasure. We met briefly at Elizabeth City, NC last June. You were at the Christian University free docks. I was on my R27 at Lamb’s Marina. You gave me a tour of your great boat.

I have had good results using StaBond UK-148 2-part adhesive for re-gluing inflatable pieces together. Get a 4 oz. can from hyside.com in Utah. The shelf life is 12 months, so call up to make sure you are getting fresh stock as the shelf life is one year from date of manufacture. That way, the glue will be good for any future needs for the next year.

We will also be spending the summer in northern BC and SE Alaska this summer, launching from Anacortes the end of next week. See you on the water.
