I purchased a used 2018 R29S Ranger. I pulled out all of the anchor chain to put markers in and it appears that the anchor line and about 75' of 3/8" chain are separated from 125' of anchor chain. The chain is not rusty or showing signs of age and I would like to reconnect the two lengths of chain. The only device that i can find is the Seafit 8 mm connecting link* but the West Marine website states it is not compatible with a windlass. Are there any connecting links that are windlass compatible? Any suggestions?

Interesting post to come across as I'm doing this job in two days. My Lewmar windlass gypsy, which came with our C248, has its intended link dimensions marked on it. They are 1/4", 7mm and 8mm. My FM supplied 1/4" chain looks to be 7mm and, as one would expect, appears a bit smaller than the link 'pockets' on the gypsy where the links sit as they are rolled in/out. IOW looks to me the 8mm Seafit link should fit. Or at least fit 'well enough'. Guess I'll know for sure in two days. FWIW I did not find another solution that would work with my windlass gypsy.

Please let us know how this goes. I’d like to add 50 feet of chain to my stock setup and it must continue to work properly with my windlass.

Mianger, the Seafit link worked fine on my Lewmar ProSport after I used it to add 50' of 1/4" chain, much like you plan. The link clearly looks to be 8mm. Since I don't know which Lewmar windlass you have, I suggest you look closely (may need a flashlight and your best spectacles) at your gypsy. If it's marked like mine, you will see the 1/4", 7mm and 8mm embossed markings on the gypsy. My 'old to new' chain joint ran thru the gypsy without a hiccup.

I used a 5/16 size of the link described on my 2014 R27 with the Lexmark 1000 and 5/16” Gypsy for several years with no problem. Unfortunately it ended up on the bottom of Ford’s Terror in AK with all my chain and anchor as well when I could not retrieve the fouled anchor. It should work fine, not rated for the same breaking strength as the chain but it goes through the windlass fine.
