anchor for 2008 R21EC

Do you have specs on the OEM anchor for 2008 R21EC.

I am interested to know if the primary on the bow roller has the same same or higher rating for sand/mud bottoms as
my 2nd anchor -Danforth high tensile -5H with 1000 lb holding rating

Hello Ray,

Sorry for the delay. The anchor specs on this model have never changed to my knowledge. 11 lb. anchor, 15' chain and 150' rode.

The 'standard' anchor is OK.

A much better anchor is one of the newer more modern types like the Rocna...which happens to be on sale now at Fisheries Supply. For $179.99 you get a 6KG galvanized steel anchor that holds well in a variety of seabed conditions. It will fit on the bow of the 21EC without modification. It's what I use and I've been happy with it.

I am upgrading my factory anchor on my R23 this week to a Rocna 6 with 100ft of chain and 250 ft of 3/8" rode. I have looked at several types and have settled on the Rocna from feedback from many boaters. I saw a few of the 29&31 rangers at Poets cove with the Rocna

Hello Cmjansen,

You must not have a windlass if you are getting ⅜" rode. Most windlass gypseys use at least ½" diameter rode...

Anyway, consider getting a rode setup (like ¼" HT chain with ½" nylon rope rode) that is compatible with common windlasses so that you can easily add a one next year when you get tired of hand-hauling.

...and 1/2 inch is a lot easier to grasp and haul than 3/8. It seems like just a small difference, but it makes a lot of difference when it is wet and slimy/muddy....don't ask me how I know.

Thanks for your suggestion on the 1/2" anchor rope as I do have a windlass. All purchased and installed. Ready for Desolation Sound.
