On our 2022 R-29 CB, the anchor light is always on. I checked both switches (CB and below) and there seems to be nothing I can do to turn the light off. At the same time, the nav lights will not come on if I switch to them. The switch illumination comes on when I set the switch to "Nav Lights".

I am going to dive in there with a multimeter, to see if the switch energizes the appropriate wires, but I wonder, ... with two switches, I am guessing that there is a On-Off-On relay involved that is triggered by either switch and it is stuck in the "Anchor light On" position. If there is a relay, could someone point me to it? I wonder where it is located.

Otherwise, ...any ideas as to what I could check? For now I pulled the light bulb to the anchor light and not being able to switch to Nav Lights is the bigger concern.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Emerson,

There are a couple of things that might cause that issue. First is it could be a bad switch or switches. The second is that the wires going to the switch are in the wrong location. If you pull the switch panel at the helm and on the CB you should see a grey/black wire going to the NAV light switch for anchor light. As for the green and red NAV lights you'll have a grey/red wires for both at the helm NAV switch and the CB NAV light switch. I've also attached a link where you can get the owners manual and wire diagram for your R29.

Thanks Jared. That did it. I found a rather short gray/black wire that itself was an extension from a purple wire. It was disconnected. It seems too short to securely attach and I was not able to attach it with the switch panel removed. I was barely able to coax it into place with the panel installed. For a test, that worked, but as is, it is not securely attached. I suspect that it was not fully pushed onto its contact and came loose. I fashioned a 4" pigtail and will install that. The original connection/connector does not look like any other connection/connector on the panel. Not sure that it matters, but it seems that something was previously "fixed" here.

Thank you for the update. You should be able to cut a zip-tie or two and get some more slack out of that wire for a good connections.
