At the Bremerton meeting Anchor Marine Underwriters was on hand soliciting Ins coverage for Ranger Tugs -- a program specially setup in conjunction with Ranger Tugs Co. -- presumably some form of mutual arrangement had been agreed to.

Our 2010 R-25 is currently insured with The Hartford and we piggy back on our Auto insurance with an Umbrella endorsement (to get the liability limit high enough to meet our marina's Ins policy terms) along with a separate policy covering our R-25. I believe the premium to be competitive... but who knows how things change over time.

Is anyone or has anyone engaged Anchor Marine (they insure through Travelers Luxury Yacht Division) for their insurance and would be willing to convey their +ive and/or -ive comments to me via a PM ?

I've made enquiries to Anchor Marine and should get their quote back tomorrow as they send the enquiries to the Senior V.P. of Underwriting at Travelers Luxury Yacht Division. This fella currently is in Ft. Lauderdale at the world’s largest boat show. 🙂 I believe jeff Messmer is at this show also.

Barry, we are insured via this policy. Feel free to PM me.

Barry,

Tugnacious is insured through these folks. Barbara and I are very happy with both the price and the service. Glad that Jeff and Andrew recommended them. I have nothing but good things to say about them. PM for more.

Barry,

I’ve been with them for two seasons and found them responsive to questions more than ample liability coverage and very competitive rates. When the hurricane came up the coast last year I called them and was told the policy allowed $1,500 (in that range) just to make the boat safe. Their hazardous waste (gas, diesel and oil) coverage is somewhere near one million. I do not have the policy in front of me but these numbers sound about right.

Moondance is insured by Anchor/Travelers. We switched from Chubb after three years, after a careful comparison of cost and coverage. We're happy with our choice. Travelers vetted the company and the boats before they created the policy.

Cheers,

Bruce

So I had a useful chat with Bob Schwab at Anchor Marine today and now I'm reviewing the quote he sent to me. It seems the water coverage provided by Anchor Marine for the PNW goes all the way up to the 51st parallel north (around north of Vancouver Island, BC). This should cover us other than going up to Alaska. 😉

At this point the Anchor & Marine (A&M) quote is around $130 per year more expensive than what I have with The Hartford. However, I need to review the coverage of each one to see how they compare. The A&M has a deductible of $750 whereas The Hartford is $1,000. Also, A&M provides zero depreciation for onboard equipment and zero depreciation on the boat's value going forward if it were to be a total loss. Off hand it does seem that A&M is a better choice for us. I just need to read through all the gory details in the policies... sigh.

Mind you, A&M also offers for an extra $100/yr war coverage if you venture into war stricken waters.

Thanks for the PMs and postings here... it helps and is much appreciated. 🙂
