You'll should get lots of feedback on your anchor question, much like bottom paint...it's all good information. The Rocna, Manson and similar style anchors are, in my opinion, the best all around anchors for the widest variety of anchoring seabed conditions. I agree with The Pug's Tug that 50' of chain makes a significant difference in an anchoring hold and should be considered a must, the more chain the better. I had a Bruce style anchor on a prior 40' boat and lost footing on anchorages many times, mostly in the middle of the night in the middle of a storm. I swapped that anchor for a Buegle (another Rocna style anchor) and never once did the boat loose a hold while at anchor. When we bought the R27 I went straight to the Rocna 15 and in three years I'm happy to say I sleep very soundly at night in all kinds of conditions without fear of waking up to an anchor alarm going off, and we anchor a lot. Obviously it is still very important to go thru a proper anchor setting routine. I'd suggest making the change and use the Bruce as a stern and or a backup anchor.
