We had our first anchoring experience on Cutwater 30. We already changed out to a Rocna 15k. ( My wife and I have spent over 1000 days at anchor in our other boats. We take anchoring very seriously.)
How do you secure the rode to the boat, other than using the windlass. I brought the rode to the bow cleats, which placed the rode over a sharp part of fiberglass. (I improvised chafe protection.)
I plan on adding 50-75 feet of chain (I know Andrew said to stop at 100ft of chain). Using a snubber will enable me to use the bow cleats and fairleads. If I want to anchor in more than 20 feet of depth (adding 5 feet off the water to the anchor roller), I will have to add rode to get to 5 to 1.
How do the rest of you secure the rode?
