Another Chinese Piece of Junk bites the dust!

No air in system and bleed as instructions said. Jabsco tech even said it was a noisy pump.

Before I purchased the Magnum unit I contacted them and they told me that the unit was manufactured in Everett, Washington. I don't know if things have changed. This unit has an aluminum case, conformal coating of the circuit boards and has run flawlessly since we purchased it.

Magnum is owned by Sensata. Here is a complete list of Sensata's manufacturing locations:

https://www.sensata.com/locations/manufacturing-sites

Note that Everett isn't on the list. Sensata does have some US manufacturing, but IME once a company has overseas manufacturing most of their non-mil-spec stuff is made overseas. Even if it is assembled in the US, the components come from somewhere else.

In the end, what everyone is talking about is the final assembly. The components of any electronic device are most likely not manufactured in the US, especially if they contain integrated circuits.

In order to get the made in USA label, you basically need to show “substantial transformation” (i.e. assembly). All the components can be manufactured offshore.

This.

Even American cars and trucks are frequently made from ~50% overseas components. Just look at the label. The F-150 had 45% foreign parts this year.

Fresh water Jabsco pump just quit on my 2018 C24 with 250 hours on boat. Probably less than 20 quick showers and sinks used some. In my opinion it should last a lot longer than it did. Screen filter cleaned often and not much debris. Very noisy and I am sure there are better pumps available. I had an RV that was 10 years old and was used a lot and never had to put a pump in plus it was quiet. Had to replace engine start battery after one and a half seasons but still have original house and thruster batteries on my boat. Also Windless had to be replaced after one year and used once and bow thruster after a little more than a season.

If your pump, was noisy, that’s on you. The owners manual shows how to get the air out of the system so that it is quiet. Has to be done whenever the pump is run dry.

Just looked in the manual and saw nothing about getting air out. Can you elaborate? TIA!

The operation section of mine (Jabsco 31295 Automatic Water Pump System) says:

1) Fill water tank
2) Open all faucets
3) Turn pump switch on
4) When water is free of air, turn all faucets off beginning with the faucet closest to the pump

There are times when we ran the tank dry (not paying attention) and after refilling, I was worried the other boats in the marina were going to complain about our pump noise - it was that loud. After this procedure, it runs very quietly. Let the facets run for a while to get the air out.

Hope this helps.

It is not a bleeding problem, It’s not a dirty filter screen, It’s not a mounting problem. Like the Jabsco tech said it’s a noisy pump that quit after little use. I have done everything the Jabsco tech said to try plus Jabsco info online. I am replacing it with a hopefully better pump. My pump is not a 31000 series pump and the one that came on my boat is no longer available.

I ended up installing a VICTRON Charger/inverter…built in the USA to Coast Guard and Military specs.

😀 Who sold you the bill of goods on this one? Victron does not have any US-based manufacturing. They build batteries in the Netherlands and pretty much everything else in China and India.

I think you may be mistaken FlyMeAway. Magnum does indeed manufacture all of their inverters in Everett, Washington. I am glad they do. Mine has worked flawlessly. See image below. There are multiple sources that confirm this information.
You are right that Sensata (a Texas Instruments spinoff) does own Magnum, one of their subsidiaries. The plant in Everett is reportedly 15,000 square feet in size.

I hesitate to approach this subject. However, when we have given Fluid Motion an oppertunity to help, they have never failed to do so. I agree we as a nation need to stop purchasing China products. They are mostly inferior and we are financing our distuction. Paying a little more for products that are better made and that enploy USA workers is not only a Patriotic Stance, it is a national defence!

Just a note but I googled Magnum "magnum inverters everett wa" and google map shows the Everett location as being permanently closed. This may be why it's not showing up on the Sensata manufacturing site list.

https://www.google.com/search?q=magnum+ ... nt=gws-wiz

I contacted Magnum and finally got a response. Scuba Too is correct, the Everett manufacturing site is closed. The representative from Magnum told me in an e mail that all of their inverters are now made in St. Paul, Minnesota.

I have been toying with the idea of upgrading the inverter on my C-28. I like Magnum products so I reached out to the New Jersey rep, Bud Reuter. He wrote back right away, which is nice.

He said the lower end inverters (high frequency) are made in Asia, deliberately as they are trying to hit a certain price point.

He went on to say the higher end products are made in the U.S. at least temporarily. Here's a quote:
"Regarding US manufactured products, our Magnum (MS & MMS) line of Pure Sine products are currently manufactured in the US in St. Paul, MN. However, as full disclosure, the manufacturing of these products is being moved to Mexico in 2022 as in the past year and half we have experienced a significant decline with the ability to obtain and maintain sufficient manufacturing/assembly personnel which has put us in a difficult position with longer that desired lead-times for our customers."

That's a shame. I think he's sincere as you hear that labor shortages are rampant throughout the American economy.
