After 49 years of sailing and approaching 87 I decided to go tugging. Put a deposit on the R 23 for April delivery. My area is Barnegat Bay at te Jersey Shore. Can't wait to transition from tiller to wheel.Ihave been following all of the forums for their wealth of information
Very impressed with these great Tugnuts
From fair winds to proper trim

Newbee too..But Welcome Aboard, Sir

Thank you. It took a month for my son and I to research and decide on the Ranger Tug. We were very impressed with the forum info and helpfulness of the members. At my age with limited time ahead i am very active in many areas but always loved being on water. I currently have 2 sailboats. One inboard 24 ft Precision Seaforth for the regular season and a 25 ft Catalina finkeel with outboard for late Fall to early Spring sailing. This has been a poor winter sailing season. River and Bay froze for most ofJanuary and. Feb. Weather permitting winter sailing is great. No traffic. Wind chill like skiing. Proper clothing. and warm drinks is all you need. Learning curve to start soon. Have seen one 21 tug in area. Area perfect for tugs shallow draft. Area is a big sailing scene. On major holidays Bay is practically paved with boats. Should be an interesting experience in a tug.

Thank you. I have been impressed these few months with the wealth of information and helpfulness of this wonderful forum. At my age I try to cram in as much as possible. The change to power boating took a month of research with a lot of questions. Couldn't resist Ranger tugs.my

Excuse poor posting. Will learn how to eliminate duplicate posts. Like person to person conversation. Faster

Hello fellow Newbie. I'd like to give you an experienced welcome aboard but I'm only two posts ahead of you. Looking forward to hearing some east coast adventures. Hope I'm still tuggin at 87.

Cheers, Bill

Welcome aboard!

We trailered our R27 up to Tuckerton to provision and launch in 2016 and stored our truck/trailer there while going up the Hudson and Erie Canal.

I was really impressed with the Marinas, staff and all the folks we met there; including a Goodyear store who put 2 new trailer tires on in a hurry.

I'd like to come back when we have more time to explore.

Enjoy!

Hi Barnegat Bay neighbor!

My husband and I purchased R31-CB at the Annapolis Boat Show this Fall..We plan to cruise home to Barnegat Light this spring..looking forward to meeting you on the Bay! Named our tug Sveikas!

I'll be tuggin' the Barnegat Bay in my R23, Sea Holli, Forest Green Hull. Hope to bump into you, maybe at Tices, or Meyers Hole!

Hi Tony & Kathy
Hope to see you on Barnegat Bay. Hopefully delivery is April. Midnight blue hull. Big transition from sailing.

Manny

I hope I’m still boating when I’m 87.

Manny,
My first boat was a Hunter 30, I love sail, the wife doesn't. Nuff said. But speed is nice too, I guess...

Nancy & Pete,
Did you happen to purchase your 31 from Pocket Yachts? I bought my 23 a week before the show. It's still there 🙁 I plan to tow her home on 3/1. Dunk her on 4/1.

Hi Tony and Kathy
Where do dock your boat? I have been in Ocean Gate for years. Nice location to Bay and River.. 8 sailboats in 49 years. Major adjustment coming.
Manny

I used Ocean Gate Yacht Club when I first bought the sail boat, and for the ramp with my CC. I'll be a little farther south in Bayville. Berkeley Island Marine at Butler's Beach it's called. Almost dead across from Tices, and just north of Berkeley Island.

Damn! I thought I was getting old for boating at 78! I moved over to trawlers about 25 years ago and now to a R21 Classic Ranger Tug. Welcome aboard.

It's all a state of mind. If you have reasonable health and think younger you can still continue boating
I have been fighting cancer for 10 years but won't let it stop me from enjoying life. Sailing is my passion but to continue boating I am realistically switching to a powerboat. Ignore age and increase those RPMs.

Hats off to another cancer survivor! My cancerous thyroid was removed about 10 years ago, just before metastasis began, and I underwent 4 months of successful radiation therapy for prostate cancer three years ago. I frequently talked to an “older” gentleman (92) who volunteered at the radiation center that had survived five different types of cancer! I hope others who are facing cancer can take heart from knowing that there are a lot of survivors like you and I out there that are still looking forward to enjoying the lifestyle we love!
