Another Quick Survey - How many hours on your RT?

ALICE J update R 27, 2011, 4BY-180 Yanmar. Turns out it was a broken power wire on the ECM so I now have an extra LCD engine monitor screen for sale. Engine hours now are 2790. Presently cruising Bras D’Or Lakes, Nova Scotia, Canada. Replaced the four injectors are the Yanmar at 2717 hours, Mase generator injector replaced 660 hours. The Float-On trailer is now pushing about 45,000 miles, added a third axle because of weight gain, which made for a smoother ride, but noticed more tire scuffing as I made tight turns.

2008 r25 , 1653 total hours, 136 on repower.

What do you mean by "repower"? Replaced engine or overhauled? What was original engine?

Engine was replaced a few years ago. Original was a QSD 150hp Cummins.

This is a super interesting thread. Cause hours are also a function of speed. At 14 Knts - an easy comfortable cruise on an r29CB .. it’s 1/2 the hours for same destination as displacement cruising on say a classic r29. We are all going somewhere.

And compared to the outboards that cruise at 25 knots… 🙂

We had IOs for decades that cruised at 25 knots, but on the great lakes it is often 3 to 4 foot seas and then you really only travel at 10 to 12 knots and the fuel economy of the outboards really suffers at that speed. Everything has a trade off in the marine world, including outboards. I am happy with the 1.6 mpg we get with our Volvo diesel at its cruise pushing our R29S at somewhere between 12 and 20 knots. At wide open 22 knots it still gets 1.3 to 1.4 mpg. It varies from marina to marina but my informal survey indicates that marine diesel fuel this summer was about $1 gallon less expensive than marine gasoline without ethanol. So as to not highjack this thread: our 2015 R25SC had 303 hours on her when we traded for the 2021 R29S which now has 88 hours on her.
